Austin, Texas – August 1, 2025 – In a spirit of humility and reverence, the Demolish Demonic Displays initiative is inviting Texans of all backgrounds to join in a thoughtful conversation about renaming two cherished state natural areas: Devil’s Sinkhole State Natural Area and Devils River State Natural Area. Managed by the Texas Parks and Wildlife Department, these stunning landscapes showcase God’s magnificent creation, and we believe their names could better reflect the glory of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
As stewards of the earth, we recognize the profound beauty in these sites—from the awe-inspiring depths of the sinkhole, home to millions of bats and a testament to natural wonders, to the pristine waters of the river that nourish wildlife and offer serene escapes for families. Yet, in our humble view, names invoking darkness do not fully capture the light and hope that these places inspire. We gently propose alternatives such as “Christ’s Sinkhole State Natural Area” or “Savior’s River State Natural Area,” which would honor the divine grace evident in every rock, stream, and sunset.
