Introduction to the Campaign
Welcome to the Demolish Demonic Displays initiative, a faith-driven movement dedicated to transforming places burdened by names that evoke darkness into beacons of hope, truth, and God’s glory. Our current focus is on “Satan’s Kingdom,” an unincorporated community in Leicester, Addison County, Vermont, located along Vermont Route 53. This area’s name stems from local legends attributing its rugged terrain—think steep gorges, rapids, and challenging landscapes—to supposed demonic activity or historical hardships that made the land feel “cursed.” While these stories may be folklore, names hold power in shaping perceptions, communities, and even spiritual atmospheres. As Christians, we believe it’s time to rename this beautiful part of God’s creation to reflect His light rather than shadows of the enemy.

Backed by Scripture, this campaign calls on Vermont residents, leaders, and believers everywhere to petition for a faith-based renaming. The Bible teaches us that words and names are not neutral—they can either honor God or give foothold to darkness. Consider Ephesians 5:11: “Have nothing to do with the fruitless deeds of darkness, but rather expose them.” By keeping a name like “Satan’s Kingdom,” we risk normalizing references to evil, subtly allowing it to linger in our culture. Instead, let’s heed Proverbs 22:1: “A good name is more desirable than great riches; to be esteemed is better than silver or gold.” Renaming this area would esteem God’s sovereignty and invite His blessings over the land.
Furthermore, Philippians 2:9-11 reminds us of the ultimate authority: “Therefore God exalted him to the highest place and gave him the name that is above every name, that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, in heaven and on earth and under the earth, and every tongue acknowledge that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.” If we proclaim Jesus as Lord, why allow a place in our nation to bear the name of His adversary? This isn’t about erasing history but redeeming it—turning a symbol of difficulty into one of divine purpose, as seen in Isaiah 62:2-4, where God promises to give His people a new name: “You will be called by a new name that the mouth of the Lord will bestow… No longer will they call you Deserted… but you will be called Hephzibah [My Delight Is in Her].”
Join us in prayer and action: Sign our petition to Vermont’s state officials, share this page, and spread the word. Together, we can demolish demonic displays and build up displays of faith!

Why Rename? A Deeper Biblical Perspective
From a Christian worldview, names are prophetic and influential. In Genesis 2:19-20, God gave Adam the authority to name the animals, showing that naming is an act of dominion and reflection of character. Satan’s Kingdom’s moniker, tied to tales of peril and supernatural mischief, echoes the enemy’s desire to instill fear and division (John 10:10: “The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy; I have come that they may have life, and have it to the full”). By contrast, renaming it aligns with Romans 12:2: “Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind.” This transformation extends to our environments—imagine families hiking trails that glorify God instead of evoking dread!
Historical precedents abound:
Biblical cities like Bethel (“House of God”) replaced pagan names to honor the Lord (Genesis 28:19). Today, we can do the same for Vermont’s hidden gem, fostering tourism, community pride, and spiritual renewal.
Great Name Ideas for Vermont to Consider
Here are some inspiring, faith-based suggestions for renaming Satan’s Kingdom. These draw from Vermont’s natural beauty (green mountains, rivers, and forests) while incorporating biblical themes of redemption, peace, and God’s kingdom. We’ve aimed for names that are memorable, positive, and suitable for a recreation area or community:
Kingdom of Light Gorge: Inspired by John 8:12 (“I am the light of the world”), emphasizing how Christ dispels darkness in this rugged landscape.
Redemption Rapids: Reflecting 1 Corinthians 1:30 (“Christ Jesus… has become for us… our redemption”), turning tales of hardship into stories of salvation.
Hephzibah Heights: From Isaiah 62:4 (“My Delight Is in Her”), celebrating God’s delight in the land’s beauty and its people.
Faith’s Frontier Trail: Drawing from Hebrews 11:1 (“Now faith is confidence in what we hope for”), honoring the area’s pioneering spirit through a lens of trust in God.
Eden’s Echo Valley: Evoking Genesis 2’s paradise, reminding visitors of God’s original creation and the hope of restoration in Revelation 22:1-2.
Sovereign Summit: Based on Psalm 47:2 (“For the Lord Most High is awesome, the great King over all the earth”), highlighting God’s rule over the terrain.
Grace Gorge Recreation Area: From Ephesians 2:8 (“For it is by grace you have been saved”), inviting grace-filled adventures in nature.
Vermont officials could hold a public vote or contest to finalize the name, ensuring community involvement while aligning with faith values.

A Humble Statement from John Arwood
“As a simple follower of Jesus, I’ve walked many paths in life, some shadowed by doubt and struggle, much like the rugged trails of what we now call Satan’s Kingdom. But in my quiet moments of seeking, I encountered the gentle whisper of the Holy Spirit, drawing me closer to the Savior who promises peace beyond understanding (Philippians 4:7). Jesus didn’t come to condemn but to offer abundant life, and through His love, I’ve found forgiveness and purpose I never thought possible. If my story stirs something in you—a curiosity about this Jesus who turns darkness to light— I encourage you to open your heart to the Holy Spirit’s guidance. He’s the true Comforter and Teacher (John 14:26), ready to reveal wonders far greater than any earthly kingdom. Let’s journey together toward knowing Him more.”
